One minute, you’re sitting at your desk, calmly reviewing a report. The next, your teenager asks what’s for dinner, and something inside you just... snaps.
It’s not a regular "I’m a bit annoyed" snap. It’s a white-hot, heart-pounding, throat-tightening surge of adrenaline and fury that feels like it’s coming from someone else entirely. You hear yourself shouting. You see the look of shock on their face. And then, just as quickly as it arrived, the rage vanishes, leaving you trembling and drowning in a sea of guilt and confusion.
Who was that person?
Because it certainly didn’t feel like you.
If you’re a professional woman in your 40s: let’s call you Sarah: you’ve spent your life building a reputation for being capable, intentional, and composed. You lead teams, you manage budgets, and you navigate the complexities of life with a level head.
But lately? Lately, you feel like a stranger in your own skin. You’re toggling between "The Hulk" and a version of yourself so anxious that even deciding what to wear for a Zoom call feels like a monumental task.
I want you to take a deep breath. Right now.
You are not losing your mind. You are not a "bad" person. And you are definitely not alone.
The Stranger in the Mirror
The hardest part of perimenopause isn’t always the hot flashes or the weight gain. For many of us, it’s the loss of our "emotional baseline."
You used to be the person who could handle a crisis without breaking a sweat. Now, a minor IT glitch at work or a partner leaving a wet towel on the floor feels like a personal attack.
You’re exhausted.
You’re irritable.
You’re constantly on edge.
And the anxiety? That’s the silent partner to the rage. It’s that low-level hum of dread that follows you throughout the day. It’s the waking up at 3 AM with your heart racing, running through every "mistake" you made during the day, convinced that you’re failing at everything.
The truth? You aren't failing. Your biology is shifting, and your brain is trying to keep up with a hormonal landscape that is changing by the hour.

Why is This Happening? (It’s Not "Just Stress")
We’re often told that we’re just "stressed" or "overworked." And while you probably are both of those things, that’s only half the story.
During perimenopause: the 4 to 10 years leading up to menopause: your estrogen levels aren’t just dropping; they are fluctuating wildly. Think of it like a rollercoaster that’s lost its brakes. One day your estrogen is sky-high; the next, it’s in the basement.
Why does this matter for your mood?
Estrogen is a major player in the production of "feel-good" neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine. When your estrogen levels swing, your brain’s chemistry becomes destabilized.
Serotonin Drops: This is your "happy hormone." When it dips, you feel irritable, anxious, and prone to those sudden outbursts of rage.
The Amygdala Hijack: Your brain’s emotional center (the amygdala) becomes more reactive. Things that your prefrontal cortex (the logical part of your brain) would normally filter out now trigger a full "fight or flight" response.
Sleep Deprivation: Let’s be honest: it’s impossible to be a Zen goddess when you haven’t slept properly in months because of night sweats or anxiety-induced insomnia.
It’s not a character flaw. It’s a chemical reaction.
The Professional’s Nightmare
For a high-achieving woman, this "loss of control" feels devastating.
You pride yourself on your professionalise. But now, you find yourself biting your tongue during meetings so hard it bleeds, just to stop yourself from saying something "career-limiting." You worry that your colleagues can see the "cracks" in your composure.
Then you go home, and because you’ve spent all day holding it together with a death grip, the people you love most get the leftovers. The rage comes out at the dinner table. The anxiety makes you withdraw from your partner.
The worst part? The shame.
The shame tells you that you should be able to "mindset" your way out of this. That if you were just more disciplined, or more "intentional," you wouldn’t feel this way.
I’m here to tell you that willpower is not the solution. You cannot "willpower" your hormones into balance any more than you can "willpower" a broken leg to heal.
You need a strategy. You need support. And you need a framework that actually works for the woman you are now.

Introducing the FRESH Framework™
I created the FRESH Framework™ specifically for women like you. It’s not about restrictive diets or grueling exercise regimes that only add more stress to your nervous system. It’s about returning to your roots and giving your body the specific signals it needs to feel safe and balanced again.
Here is how we tackle the rage and anxiety using the FRESH Framework™:
✅ F is for Food (and Fuel): We focus on blood sugar stability. When your blood sugar crashes, your cortisol (stress hormone) spikes, which is a one-way ticket to Rage-Town. We eat to support your brain, not just your waistline.
✅ R is for Resilience: We implement micro-habits that calm your nervous system. This isn't about hour-long meditations; it's about 2-minute "nervous system resets" you can do between meetings.
✅ E is for Energy & Movement: We move in a way that lowers inflammation rather than driving it up. Less "bootcamp," more "hormone-friendly strength."
✅ S is for Sleep: We fix the 3 AM wake-up calls by addressing the root causes, so your brain has the capacity to regulate your emotions the next day.
✅ H is for Hormones & Hydration: We look at the big picture. Are your hormones balanced? Are you supporting your liver? Are you drinking enough water to actually flush out excess toxins?

You Don’t Have to Do This Alone
Sarah, I know you’re used to being the one everyone leans on. You’re the "fixer." The one who has it all under control.
But right now, it’s okay to be the one who leans.
In fact, it’s necessary. You’ve spent decades taking care of everyone else. Now, your body is waving a giant red flag, asking you to finally take care of you.
The "Lean On Lucy" Programme is designed for the woman who is tired of guessing. Tired of Google-searching symptoms at 2 AM. Tired of feeling like a "diluted" version of herself.
In my 1-1 Lean On Lucy Programme, we don't just talk about symptoms. We look at the root causes. We use the FRESH Framework™ to build a bespoke plan that fits into your busy life: not a plan that requires you to quit your job and move to a retreat in Bali.
Imagine...
Waking up feeling steady and grounded.
Navigating a stressful work day without that "buzzing" feeling of anxiety in your chest.
Having the patience to laugh with your family instead of snapping at them.
Actually recognizing the woman in the mirror again.
It is possible. I’ve seen it happen for hundreds of women, and it can happen for you too.
